FortiFlora Cat: a safe and effective probiotic
Purina Pro Plan FortiFlora Cat contains the lactic acid bacteria Enteroccus faecium (SF 68), in a concentration that has been shown to have a beneficial effect on the balance of the intestinal flora and intestinal health. In addition, it has been proven to help promote a healthy immune system.
The microencapsulation process of the bacteria in FortiFlora Cat gives them an extra layer of protection against the acidic juices in the stomach. This ensures that a large part of the Enterococcus bacteria in FortiFlora reaches the intestines alive and can be effective there.

How to use FortiFlora for your cat
Purina Pro Plan FortiFlora Cat comes in a box containing 30 bags with 1 gram of probiotic powder each. The dosage for cats is 1 sachet per day over the normal food. The duration of the treatment depends on your cat’s health situation. Purina recommends the following:
If your cat has loose stools
If your cat has loose stools or diarrhea, you can give 1 bag of FortiFlora Cat over the normal food, until at least 7 days after the stool has returned to normal quality.
To improve your cat’s immune system
To improve the functioning of the immune system, give your cat 1 sachet of FortiFlora Cat per day for at least 30 days.
If your cat is on antibiotics
To keep your cat’s intestinal flora in balance during a course of antibiotics, give 1 sachet per day, until 7 days after the last dose of the antibiotic. Use FortiFlora at a different time than the antibiotic for best results.

My cat was taking antibiotics for 10 days. I was worried because she’s quite old and her bowel movements were really not going well. After 2 days of probiotics her stool was normal again. I’m very happy about this product. It’s expensive but if you split the content of the little packs (they really have a lot inside) you can use 1per day or even one every two days. My cat loves the taste of these probiotics as well, so no issue with that.
